تصوّر هذه اللوحة زقاقًا ضيقًا في مدينة حضرمية قديمة، محاطًا بجدران المباني الطينية الشاهقة التي تلتقي فوقه تاركة شريطًا ضيقًا من السماء. تغرق جوانب الزقاق في ظلال داكنة بنية اللون بينما ينفتح آخره على مساحة مضيئة بلون ذهبي دافئ، تبرز فيها هيئة امرأة بثوب أسود تحمل حملًا فوق رأسها وتمشي إلى جانبها طفل صغير. تتناثر بعض الطيور في السماء البعيدة، مضيفة إحساسًا بالحياة والحركة إلى المشهد الهادئ. يعتمد الفنان على تباين قوي بين الظلمة المحيطة والضوء المركزي لخلق عمق بصري درامي، فيما تعكس تفاصيل الجدران المتصدعة والنوافذ الخشبية المغلقة عراقة العمارة الحضرمية وطابعها المتوارث عبر الأجيال.

This painting depicts a narrow alley in an old Hadhrami city, hemmed in by towering mud-brick walls that nearly meet overhead, leaving only a thin strip of sky visible. The sides of the alley are steeped in dark brown shadow, while its far end opens onto a warm golden patch of light, against which the silhouette of a woman in a black dress carrying a load on her head appears, with a small child walking beside her. A few birds scatter across the distant sky, adding a sense of life and movement to the otherwise quiet scene. The artist relies on a strong contrast between the surrounding darkness and the central light to create dramatic visual depth, while the detailed weathered walls and shuttered wooden windows reflect the ancient character of Hadhrami architecture and its heritage passed down through generations.
