تصوّر هذه اللوحة بوابة حجرية تاريخية ذات عقد مدبب يعلو مدخلها الواسع، تنتمي إلى إحدى المدن الحضرمية القديمة المسوّرة. يظهر جدار البوابة الحجري الثقيل بلونه الرملي الدافئ مع نافذة خشبية تقليدية مطلة من أعلى يسار المدخل، بينما تتكشف من خلال العقد المظلم للبوابة رؤية بعيدة لجبل شاهق وتجمّع من المباني الطينية التقليدية. يعبر عدد من السكان المحليين بثيابهم الملونة أسفل قوس البوابة وحولها، في مشهد حياة يومية هادئ يعكس استمرارية استخدام هذا المعلم التاريخي كممر رئيسي للمدينة. يبرز التباين بين الظل الكثيف داخل الممر المقنطر والضوء الساطع في الخلفية عمق البوابة وضخامتها المعمارية، فيما يمنح الأسلوب الواقعي التفصيلي اللوحة طابعًا توثيقيًا لعمارة حضرموت التراثية.
