يُظهر هذا الطابع مدينة المكلا، عاصمة سلطنة القعيطي في الشحر والمكلا، وقد صُدر خلال فترة الحكم البريطاني في محمية عدن التي كانت تتولى إدارة الخدمات البريدية للسلطنة آنذاك.
يقدّم التصميم مشهدًا واضحًا لواجهة المكلا البحرية التقليدية، والقوارب الشراعية القديمة، وسلسلة الجبال خلف المدينة، مع صورة الملك جورج السادس داخل إطار بيضاوي.
كانت القيمة الأصلية للطابع ٨ آنات باللون البرتقالي، ثم أضيفت عليه طباعة سوداء بالقيمة الجديدة ٥٠ سنتًا نتيجة التغييرات النقدية التي فرضتها الإدارة البريطانية.
This stamp depicts the port city of Mukalla, capital of the Qu’aiti State of Shihr and Mukalla in Hadhramaut. It was issued under the British Aden Protectorate, which administered postal services for the Qu’aiti Sultanate at the time.
The design shows Mukalla’s historic waterfront, traditional sailing boats, and the mountain ridge behind the city, with the portrait of King George VI in an oval frame. The original face value, 8 Annas, appears in orange, and the stamp bears a black surcharge of 50 Cents, reflecting the currency adjustments introduced under British administration.
